In this episode of the Green Ninja Show, Earth is sick with a fever and the doctors are having difficulties figuring out what got Earth so sick. A large group of specialists are called in to figure out what could be causing the fever.
The earth has a fever because it is being heated up by global warming (global warming is a planet-wide increase in temperature, this is one of the major processes causing global climate change). Global warming has been caused by humanity burning fossil fuels over the past two hundred years. Burning fossil fuels releases carbon into the atmosphere. As carbon accumulates in the atmosphere, more heat from the sun is trapped near the surface, the high concentration of carbon keeps it from escaping the atmosphere. Because less heat is escaping, the global temperature raises. Over time, the global temperature has steadily increased, leading to problems such as melting polar ice caps, an increase in oceanic temperature and acidity, and it has made survival difficult for many organisms worldwide that are acutely affected by temperature changes (such as algae, fish, plants, and various microorganisms).
The Earth needs so many doctors because the doctors represent Green Ninjas. As a Green Ninja, it is important to take care of the planet and keep it healthy. The doctors need to work together in the same way all humans need to work together to become Green Ninjas to keep climate change from increasing the temperature any further. If all humans worked together to lower carbon emissions from things such as electricity production, transportation, food production, and reducing waste of the world’s limited resources, then the Earth can be saved. Not everyone is a Green Ninja, but anyone can be a Green Ninja. The Green Ninjas need all the help they can get to save the Earth, so make sure to do your part. Reduce, reuse, recycle, and teach others how to be a Green Ninja.
